A summer cottage that had been in the family for decades
needed serious help, as it was the ugly duckling of the
neighborhood, and had no foundation. The entire house was
shored up while a new foundation was built underneath. A
kitchen addition, entry portico, master suite addition and
carriage house style garage were added in two seperate
renovations. Most of the rest of the house was reconfigured
but many features such as the antique fireplace and antique
pine panneling were saved and added to. The end result is a
charming country cottage that retains much of the feeling of
the original cottage. A whole house renovation of this
complexity would not have been possible without the
dedication of the owners to saving many parts of the existing
cottage.

The antique fireplace remains, as well as much of
the original pine panelling. The patina on the
new pine was matched to the old so well it is impossible to distinguish the new from the old
