Built in a series of stages between 1989 and 1997, this project represents the transformation of a modest cape into a rambling country estate. All trim details and style elements reflect those of the original cape. The site was also completely re-contoured, turning it into a multi level series of gardens, defined by stone walls, granite blocks, and pergolas. The owner, whose career has taken him all around the world, has commissioned and lived in 17 other whole house renovations. He was extensively involved in every aspect of the project.

Through a gated entrance, the parking area is separated from the yard and gardens. The additions are at either end of the original cape.

Beside the informal entry, an arbor leads to the secluded gardens beyond.

Once inside, a french country style terrace in front of the formal entry invites one to stay.

The addition drops with the grade to open up a lower level containing a guest bedroom and a studio facing the ocean. Next to a greenhouse, granite stairs and a pergola lead to the ocean side.
